Organic Viticulture

Organic Viticulture

1. Why Organic?

Because that's what represents Petro Vaselo.

Organic wine is wine made from grapes grown in accordance with principles of organic farming, which typically excludes the use of artificial chemical fertilizerspesticidesfungicides and herbicides. But the legal definition of organic wine varies from country to country.

2. Healthy or commercial?

Health protection

A balanced ecosystems is defined as a diversity of organisms, such as fauna, plants and microorganisms, living in complementarity in a competing system.

Most of the pesticides are harmful for the workers health, but also can be absorbed into the plant and consequently end up in wine, so minimizing the amount of residues in the wine is a plus for the consumer’s health.

Therefore, the protection health is an important cause to go organic.

3. Preserve the environment

Organic growing promotes production of food in harmony with the nature, and helps to maintain the natural ecosystem balance. Use of chemicals in agriculture contaminates the environment, poisoning water supplies and destroying soil natural fertility. The saddest thing is that vast majority of chemicals (99%) used in agriculture production contaminates the environment and only 0.1% of applied pesticides reach the target pests. Organic farming promotes responsible use of natural resources.

Natural winemaking is a style loosely defined as using native yeasts in the fermentation process and minimal or no sulfur dioxide in the winemaking process. It may also mean unfined and unfiltered as well.

4. Ethical Reasons

Petro Vaselo’s belief is that the environment “was here” even before our arrival, so it would be unfair to harm it just because it is easier to obtain the desired results…

Next generations should enjoy the environment at least as much as we do.

So let’s enjoy life and Petro Vaselo wines!
